Based on the previous employee experience (eX) design project, the problem of overload in the organisation emerged, so the manageable workload mini project aimed to understand - and mitigate and solve - this problem in more depth.

From the insight bank of the eX design research, we extracted, reviewed and interpreted the relevant parts, processed employee statistics from the past years - and based on these we designed a workshop for 20 employees (about one tenth of all employees). In the workshop, participants structured their own and their environment's experiences, dilemmas, stories, methods, tricks and practices in plenary and in 3 groups. Based on this synthesis, an online questionnaire was used to collect data from all employees. In the meantime, we developed a Roche manageable workload model that structured and streamlined the phenomenon of overload, which is specific to Roche.
solution
The questionnaire was also a self-scoring test, a segmentation tool that allowed employees to arrive at a repository of solutions to problems relevant to them based on their own responses. This knowledge base continues to be built and enriched with each completion - adding value to the periodic re-completion. (We worked closely with the agile coach leading the agile transformation on this project.)
